Early Head Start

Bauer’s Early Head Start families and children participate in either our Home-Based or Center-Based programs. Both options provide comprehensive educational experiences for children and their parents that promote the growth and development of each individual child.

Early Head Start Home-Based Program

This program is for children in Hendricks, Owen, and Morgan Counties aged six weeks to two years old. Families are assigned a Bauer Home Visitor who works with parents on their child’s individual learning. Home-based parents actively participate in the 90-minute weekly visits, create learning goals for their child and continue the learning between visits using Home Links.

Home-based families plan the twice-monthly group socializations where, along with their children, they enjoy educational activities, share meals, and develop friendships and support. Families also participate in Bauer’s Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) and elect representatives to Bauer’s Policy Council.

Early Head Start Center-Based Program

The center-based program is for children in Tippecanoe, Hendricks, and Morgan Counties aged six weeks to two years old. However, families must be working full-time, attending school full-time or a combination of both in order to enroll.

Early Head Start children attend school Monday through Friday and engage in planned educational activities with their teachers. Families continue the learning at home through weekly Home Links that the teachers develop specifically for their child. Families are expected to volunteer in their child’s classroom eight hours each month, participate in Bauer’s Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) and elect representatives to Bauer’s Policy Council. Families also engage in a minimum of two home visits and two conferences with their child’s teacher each year.
