The Youth Development Program is an afterschool and summer program provided at the Bauer Community Center. The Youth Development program is free and open to youth grades 1 - 12. This program promotes attaining social and educational goals by providing constructive activities and building leadership skills. By focusing on the Search Institute’s 40 Developmental Assets® and Developmental Relationship®, the Youth Development program builds on positive experiences that are essential to raising successful youth. This includes fostering a growth mindset, building on youths’ sparks, creating relationships with youth people, helping them realize their possible selves, and developing a mental toughness to learn to defer gratification in order to achieve their goals.
Various activities include the Bauer Basketball team, STEP (a form of dance), homework assistance, recreation, and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math). A snack and dinner is provided after school and additionally, lunch is provided in the summer months.
